Farewell to the Beloved Sahara
Farewell, my beautiful Sahara,
You who were wholly mine,
Today they snatch you from my arms,
And hand you over to other hands.
From the rubble of my soul,
Lashed by your wind,
Remembering our times together,
Still believing I hold you.
Your dunes, raised in hardship,
Caressing the Western sun,
Dragged by pain and tears,
Guarding over your beloved land.
You who kissed me fervently during the day,
And embraced me with your shadows at night,
How can I live without you now?
What will I do, not feeling you again?
Time, like shifting sands,
Swallows me into memories,
And drowns me in sorrow,
Knowing you are no longer mine.
A farewell kiss from you,
A furrowed brow as I leave,
Without seeing your dunes and sands,
With empty dreams that torment me.
Goodbye, my dear Sahara.
